TRI STATE MMA Oct 22, 2005 Ashland, KY

First off I want to send a HUGE THANKS to everyone who helped Kenny D and Tri State MMA to put on a great show. The day started with the news that the entire hell raisers gym was pulling a no show and Kenny had several fights depending on those guys being there. Kenny worked extremely hard with a few of the others in attendance to get in some last minute fighters and have a few that just showed up as fans end up on the card as well. In the end there were 10 fights on the card with 3 being straight grappling matches for the best 2 out of 3 submissions
This was Tri State MMA's first show and considering the eventful day Kenny had it was a great show. I want to thank Kenny and the guys for hooking us up and making us feel at home, Ashland is a long way for me and it was a nice ride over the mountains. I am looking forward to their next show and hope I am able to make the trip. These guys were set and ready to go and even with a whole gym of fighters not showing up they still pulled it off in a very professional way.

David Moore Sr. VS Josh Booth - Best 2 out of 3 Grappling
The fighters lock up and Josh muscles David onto the cage, David shoots back off the cage for a take down but Josh side steps and lets him go pass. David shoots in again and Josh catches him in a guillotine and falls back into guard, David tries for a second to get free but its locked in too tight and he has to tap giving the first sub to Josh.
The fighters pair off once again and circle in the center looking for their chance to gain the upper hand, David shoots again and Josh tries to pull guard with a second choke but David is able to pull free and the fighters work on the ground for control with David ending in side control and eventually working in a forearm choke to get the submission and tie up the score.
The fighters circle looking to finish the match with a final submission , they lock up and clinch onto the cage, Josh is able to throw David to the mat but does not jump in to finish and David stands back up as they go head to head once more. Josh comes in and they clinch, Josh pushes David against the cage and as David goes for a leg trip its Josh having the leverage and shoves David to the mat. Josh decides to let David stand and as they go at it one more time David gets a waist lock and is able to pick up Josh taking him to the ground. As they go down Josh turns and ends up giving up his back, the fighters go into a roll and when the stop David has a rear naked choke locked in and in seconds Josh is forced to tap giving David the second win and the match.

Andrew Earles VS Brandon Dillman
Brandon comes in swinging, Andrew throws a couple shots of his own and the fighters clinch. Working for control Andrew lands a couple knees to the body and Brandon hammers in a few shots to the ribs. Still working the clinch both fighters are landing knees to the body and a few shots to the ribs as they work to get full control and the take down. Andrew pushes off, hammers in a couple shots to the head and back into the clinch where he lands a few knees to the body. Andrew then gets an under hook tying up Brandon's arm and stops him from blocking several knees to the head and body from the clinch. Brandon pushes off Andrew and Andrew comes back in connecting with a left and getting a waist lock in the clinch, Andrew drops down grabs a double leg and dumps Brandon on the mat. Brandon rolls over giving up his back and Andrew sits with his legs locked and hammers in a few shots to the head, after softening Brandon up a little Andrew slaps in the rear naked choke causing Brandon to tap and giving the victory to Andrew.

Anthony Rice VS Jason Collins
Anthony comes in quick and takes the fight to the ground with a waist throw, the fighters roll and it is Jason landing on top in side control but trapped in a headlock. Anthony rolls over getting to a seated position with the head lock still latched on and hammering in shots to the head. Jason breaks free and gets to his knees but Anthony is hammering in rights & lefts to the head as Jason tries to get back to his feet. After several shots Jason is able to stand and back up, Anthony comes in for the kill and Jason shoots for a take down but gets caught in a choke. The fighters go down with Anthony landing on his back but still holding on to the choke, Jason tries to get free but as soon as Anthony latches on with full guard Jason is forced to tap to the guillotine choke.

David Moore Jr. VS Roy Rison - Best 2 out of 3 Grappling
Roy shoots from the start and takes David to the mat, David slipped in a guillotine choke as Roy shot in but once the hit the mat Roy reaches over for his own choke and pulling his head out at the same time. Roy falls back and starts cranking away on the choke and in seconds David taps giving Roy the first win.
Roy comes in spiderman style and jumps on David latching in another choke while David is still standing. Roy pulls back and the fighters go to the ground but David is able to get his head free and gain side control, the fighters work on the ground rolling over each other trying to gain control In the end it is Roy getting the upper hand putting David on his back and locking in a side choke. Roy goes for full mount and lets go of the choke and starts working a forearm choke from the top. David is able to reverse position and get on top but is locked into a side head lock. David is able to pull his head out and grab a guillotine choke, Roy tries to stand and escape but is forced to tap making it a tie and now the fighters going for the tie breaker.
Roy shoots in from the bell and the fighters go to the ground with David landing on top having Roy's back from side control but trapped in another head lock. David pops his head out and works in a guillotine choke from his knees and flattens out, Roy taps in seconds giving the win and the match to David Jr. Like father like son.

Allen Browning VS Rick Cook
The fighters touch gloves and Rick comes in swinging wild, Allen backs up blocking shots and Rick comes in and clinches on the cage. Allen lands a solid knee as he spins off the cage and the break, Allen then lands a solid right to the head and Rick clinches looking for the take down. Allen jumps up on Rick sinking in a guillotine choke and locking his feet around Rick's waist for a standing guard. Rick slams Allen to the mat trying to break the choke and is successful. Allen goes for an arm bar and Rick stands to pick him up and slam him again but Allen releases the arm bar and falls to the mat. Rick comes back into Allen's guard on the mat and Allen starts working a triangle choke from the bottom. Rick pulls free and comes back in with a solid shot to the head Rick works for control on the ground and raises up and lands another shot but also back into Allen's guard. Allen is working for the triangle once more and although taking a couple shots he gets it locked in. Rick picks him up to slam down and try to break the hold but it only locks it in deeper and in just a few seconds Rick taps giving Allen the win via submission.

Robert Browning VS John Dillman
John lands first and Robert rushes him backing John up to the cage and taking him to the mat Robert lands in a mount but John has a head lock and is on his side. Robert goes to the side to escape and the head lock turns into John holding Robert in close to prevent him from striking. John works Robert into half guard and is still holding him in close, Robert fires off a few shots to the body trying to get John to let go so he can unload. John tries to bridge up and reverse but Robert has a great base and stays in top position. John tries to get up letting go of the body lock and as Robert hammers in a few shots John is able to get to a north south position and then as the fighters spin out both get back to their feet to start the action again. John throws a low kick and Robert catches it and lands a solid shot to the head sending John to the mat. Robert jumps in and starts the GROUNDNPOUND action, John tries to turn out of it but is unable to and is getting pounded by Robert causing him to tap to the strikes giving Robert the TKO victory.

Kenny Moore VS Tony Fisher - Best 2 out of 3 Grappling
They both meet center ring and Tony latches on and pulls guard. Kenny works for control and steps over in full mount but Tony latches on to close the distance. After a few seconds kenny is able to work out of the mount and back to his feet but is immediately caught in a guillotine choke, KEnny falls back sinking the choke in deeper and in seconds Tony taps giving the first sub to Kenny.
They circle once the hit center ring and its Kenny shooting for a single leg, he picks up Tony and dumps him to the mat landing in side control. After a few seconds of working on the ground Kenny sits out and grabs an arm working to lock in an arm bar. Tony tries his best to defend from it but in the end Kenny gets the second submission and the match in a 2 to 1 victory.

Jason Carrier VS Grant Faulkner
ROUND 1: Grant rushes in and lands a kick, Jason puts him on the cage and takes him to the mat stepping over into full guard. Grant tries to buck free and twist out but Jason has a solid mount and seems to be in full control on the ground. Grant is holding Jason in to reduce the striking but Jason is able to land several to the head and body. After several attempts to get free and taking a few shots on the bottom, Grant is able to buck up and reverse control putting Jason on his back with full guard locked in on Grant. Grant stands like he is going to slam Jason who still has his legs locked in but just as Grant gets completely up Jason just releases his legs, stands with Grant and pushes him back to the cage. The fighters exchange a few knees in the clinch and Jason grabs a leg and dumps Grant back to the canvas. Grant locks in the full guard and Jason begins to hammer in shots to the head and body. Grant answers with a couple shots from below but its Jason unleashing the GROUNDNPOUND. Grant holds tight to avoid the striking and Jason picks him up slamming him back into the mat. Grant attempts a triangle choke but is unable to get his foot behind his knee to lock it in, Jason stays calm landing a couple body shots waiting to escape the choke. After a few seconds Jason picks up Grant slamming him into the mat again and breaking the triangle. Jason then works quickly to gain control on the ground taking side control and working into full mount. Once there he starts to hammer in shots and begins to work a front choke but the bell sounds ending round 1
ROUND 2: Jason connects first and then both fighters trade a few kicks and punches before Jason shoots driving Brandon against the cage but getting caught in a guillotine choke. Brandon works the choke for several seconds but it does not seem to be having an effect on Jason. After a short time Jason reaches under and picks Brandon up slamming him to the mat landing in side control but still trapped in a choke. Jason works around to the other side breaking the choke grip and taking side control and then full mount. Brandon is holding Jason in tight to prevent much striking. Jason works to create distance but Brandon has a tight grip, Jason sits up and Brandon holds on, Jason lands a few shots to the head and goes back down. Jason stays on top but is not landing many shots due to Brandon keeping him in close. Jason works in some kind of shoulder or arm choke and out of nowhere with under a minute left in the round Brandon taps to the choke giving Jason the victory in the longest fight of the night.

Mike Salyers VS Brandon Monger
The fighters meet center ring and circle once, Mike comes in throwing bombs and Brandon ducks under and shoots. Mike catches him in a guillotine choke and grapevines the leg while arching back to apply the pressure. Mike plants his feet and pulls back to pull guard bringing the fighters to the mat. Brandon flips over and they go to a north south position before Mike flips to his back and works to get Brandon in his guard with the choke still locked in. Brandon tries to work his way free and the fighters go back to north south position and then Mike to his back again. Mike is able to gain half guard and in seconds Brandon taps out to the choke giving Mike the win

James Foster VS Zach Earles
The fighters touch gloves and then James shoots. Zach is hammering shots to the head as James drives to the cage and then picks Zach up slamming him to the mat. James goes from guard, half guard to full mount and Zach pulls him in tight to prevent any striking. James starts to hammer away the GROUNDNPOUND and Zach covers up allowing James to create distance and fire of several shots before the ref steps in to stop the fight giving James the TKO victory.
