On June 26 the Mt. Hood community college in Gresham, Oregon was transformed into the Sportfight Dome. WIth the help of five projection screens, professional sound and lighting system, the 2000 seat arena was set for what proved to be a spectacular event. Promoters Randy Couture and Matt Lindland should be proud of the show they put on for their home town crowd.  | This is the 4th SportFight event and the Team Quest Gang has done a fine job bringing in some top class fighters. On tonight's card they had Ed Herman vs Shane Davis, Josh Burkmann vs Kyacey Uscola & Chris Leben vs Benji Radach plus several other bouts. GROUNDNPOUND.ORG had their guys there to cover the action and cover it they did. Dive in and be sure to watch for more to come. With more then 100 pictures, play by play second to none and video on its way, you can re-live the event. ARE YOU READY!!! LETS GET IT ON!!! Ian Loveland vs. Zach Combs at 145 lbs. Round 1: This was the first of what would be an exciting night of fights. After the bell a few punches are thrown by both fighters Ian lands a nice jab sending Combs back stepping. Combs shoots and is trapped by a Standing Guillotine, in only seconds, Ian's deep Guillotine Choke puts Combs out on his feet and the match ends at 0:40 sec of the first round. Loveland wins by Guillotine Choke at 0:40 of round 1. Floyd Willis vs. Bill Brewer at 185 lbs. Round 1: The bout started with both fighters fighting for control in the clinch on the ropes. During the struggle Bill goes out of the ring and takes one by accident to the groin. A timeout is called for the groin shot and the fighters are started back. Both fighters tie up again and then a takedown by Floyd. He goes straight into the Full Mount and starts in on a Key Lock, then the tap out quickly follows. Floyd wins by Key Lock at 2:20 of round 1. | Guy Delumeau vs. Brad Horner at 155 lbs. Round 1: The fight starts with Horner landing knees. Both Delumeau and Horner work their ground game. Both fighters seem evenly matched and get their shots in. Looks like they're feeling each other out and being cautious Round 2: Guy shoots and gets the take down then to a half guard and throws some punches and moves into the Full Mount. Brad takes a few shots to the head then try's rolling over, but gives up his back and gets caught in a Rear Naked Choke at 0:45 sec. Guy Delumeau wins by Rear Naked Choke at 0:40 of round 2 David Brown vs.Toby Welch at 185 lbs. Round 1: After the bell they clinch and exchange some shots, Welch gets a taken down by a head lock. Welch recovers and gets back to his feet but Brown still has him around the waist from behind, Welch is able to turn and they clinch again in the corner and Brown lands some knees then pulls him from the corner and gets the take down again. Brown gets the better half or north south and try's for what looked like a crucifix, but ends up on his back and attempts the triangle choke, Welch lifts and slams to break the hold lands a few shots only to get put in an Arm Bar at 2:01 of round 1 David Brown wins by Arm Bar at 2:01 of round 1. Shaun Castlin vs. Jerry Linderman at 210 lbs. Round 1: Castlin looked ready to go, when the bell rang he immediately rushes in lands a few knees and gets the take down. Linderman lands in the fetal position and Castlin is on him landing shots, then moves right into a Rear Naked Choke at 0:20 sec of the first round. Shaun Castlin wins by Rear Naked Choke at 0:20 of round 1. | | | | Pro Matches: Troy “The Time Bomb” O’Conner was scheduled to face Trevor Burnell but had to cancel due to injury. Burnell thanked the fans for coming out and apologized for not being able to show off his skills. Brendan Melendez vs. Ray Pearales at 175: Round 1: It was an action filled first round as both fighters trade shots looking to get the upper hand. Melendez shoots and gets the take down and starts some GROUNDNPOUND, raining down punches and elbows from the top. Pearales works and gets the reversal, he has control only for a second as Brendan rains in a few more shots and then gets back to his feet. Brendan try's for a trip and hip throw and Pearales counters landing on him in a half mount, Brendan recovers after a few shots on the ground and gets back to his feet to get a trip take down right before the bell rings. Round 2: The fighters come out into a clinch, Brendan lands some nice knees from in the clinch. Melendez gets the take down and goes back to work with some GROUNDNPOUND. Brendan stands to give a few leg kicks but is right back on Ray as he attempts to get up. Brendan gets side mount but its reversed, Brendan keeps rolling with it and regains top position in a side mount. Brandon then gets Full Mount but its reversed and Ray is bringing the GROUNDNPOUND. Pearales stands and Brandon follows but then shoots and gets the takedown again. Melendez's brings the GROUNDNPOUND once more then puts Ray into a Neck Crank, causing Pearales to tap. Brendan Melendez wins by a Neck Crank at 4:17 of the 2nd round Chris Wilson vs Eddy Ellis at 170: Round 1: From the bell the fighters exchange a few blows, Ellis brings a nice leg kick and then into the clinch, knees are being landed by Wilson. They break the clinch and Ellis gets the take down. Ellis stands back up and Wilson lands a few up kicks from his back. Ellis is landing a few shots coming down on Wilson, the Wilson attempts an Arm Bar attempt. Eddy powers out and lands a few bombs on the way down into side control. Wilson turns and attempts a triangle. Ellis breaks free and lands some more huge blows from the standing position. Ellis takes side control again and throws a few shots, Wilson hits him with a up kick sending him back to the center of the ring and Ellis motions for Wilson to stand.They exchange a few shots and Ellis gets a take down and lands 1 shot before the bell ending round 1. Ellis got the best of the striking during the first round and controlled most of the ground game with GROUNDNPOUND action. Round 2: Both fighters come out swinging and Wilson lands a great right but Ellis gets the take down again, props Wilson up in the corner and begins to GROUNDNPOUND him. Wilson turns and gives up his back, Ellis lands an illegal elbow to the back of Wilson's head. A point is deducted from Ellis and Wilson is given time to recover as blood is dripping from a cut on the back of his head. The fight resumes and the fighters start exchanging blows, Ellis tries for a take down but they end in the clinch, Ellis then gets a hip toss and ends in Wilson's guard and starts with the GROUNDNPOUND once more. Ellis takes side control then stands dropping punches from above, he retakes side control ending round 2. Round 3: Both fighters come out banging once more, Wilson gets the better of the exchange and Ellis moves in for a takedown and gets it. The fighters are not working it much so the ref stands them up for stalling. Another take down by Ellis and again they get stood back up for lack of action. It appears as if both men have worn out themselves in rounds 1 & 2. Wilson lands a couple of body kicks and Ellis gets another take down landing in the guard. The ref stands the fighters for lack of action. After a few shots Ellis scores another take down and takes Wilson's back and attempts a Rear Naked Choke. Wilson turns into the guard and the fight goes to the judges. Despite the point lost, Ellis still gets the Unanimous Decision. Eddy Ellis wins by Unanimous Decision in round 3 | | Dennis Davis vs Jeremy Saunders at 155 for the Sportfight lightweight championship: Round 1: The fighters come straight to the clinch, Davis lands a great shot then goes for the take down ends up on top in the guard. Davis attempts a ankle lock and Saunders answers with some bombs. Saunders reverses it and ends up in side control raining in some heavy shots, Davis gets back to his feet and takes Saunders down again and the fighters exchange on the ground. Davis stands back up and Saunders lands a god up kick from the ground. Davis gets side mount again and lands some nice shots, Saunders flips Davis on his back where Davis attempts a Triangle. Saunders attempts a slam and Davis releases the choke, Saunders stands and Davis gets to his knees and takes down Saunders again. The fighters exchange position and shots on the ground winding up round 1 Round 2: Saunders goes in for the take down and gets caught in a Guillotine choke and taps out Saunders to win the Sportfight 155 title. Dennis Davis wins by Guillotine in (unknown) very early seconds of round 2. Ed Herman vs Shane Davis at 185: Round 1: From the ring of the bell both fighters go for the clinch and working for control both fighters are throwing knees in the clinch for about the first 2 minutes, Herman delivering a few nice foot stomps. Herman then scores the first takedown and works from the guard landing some nice shots to the head and body and some vicious GROUNDNPOUND. Herman continues to pound on Davis from the ground ending Round one The round ends with some very effective striking by Herman from inside Davis's guard, landing several punches, shoulders and forearms make up some awesome GROUNDNPOUND action. Round 2: Again the fighters hook it up and go to the ground where Herman continues to deliver some GROUNDNPOUND and works it throughout most of the round. Davis has taken some awesome shots and seems to be going strong. Davis try's for triangle but is slammed down with authority. After a hip toss Davis is on top but its reversed and Herman is back in control. Herman attempts heal hook and Shane throws some nice punches then rolls out. Davis stands up leg still locked and Herman throws big up kick then bell rings. Round 2 ends with a standing ovation by the crowd for the constant action. Round 3: Much of the same from Herman delivering strikes at will and then the take down. After he gains control, Herman slaps on a Arm Bar and with Shane hanging half in half out of the ring he taps at 0:50 sec of round 3. Ed Herman wins by Arm Bar at 0:50 of round 3 | | | | Josh Burkmann vs Kyacey Uscola at 195: Round 1: The match advertised as bad blood between the two and the crowd was jacked up and ready for it. Both fighters touch gloves then clinch and a takedown by Burkmann. Burkmann. had Uscola's back and attempting Rear Naked Choke, He tries for a long time and about has it when Uscola escapes the choke. Josh lands several huge bombs from behind and then slips the choke in deep causing Uscola to tap at 2:51 of the first round. Josh Burkmann wins by Rear Naked Choke at 2:51 of round 1. Chris Leben vs Benji Radach Sportfight middleweight championship Fight Round 1: They both start by felling each other out, Radach comes with a couple punches then shoots for for a quick slam takedown. Leben holds a tight guard but Radach lands some punches and scores some big hits. They started to roll out of the ring and the fight is stood up. Now Benji starts landing some huge bombs from the standup Benji drives Leben into the corner, they exchange a few more shots standing ending round 1. Round 2: Both fighters start with an exchange of shots and Leben starts showing more aggression. Radach gets the take down and into Leben's guard. The fighters are put back to their feet where the punches start flying and into the clinch. Chris lands some great foots stomps there is a take down by Radach and Chris scrambles back to his feet and round 2 ends in the clinch. Round 3: The fighters exchange blows for a bit with Leben getting off more shots. Radach punches then takes down Leben again, but a lack of action gets the referee to stand them up. Leben adjusts his shorts, both fighters touch gloves. Leben yells as he slams Radach with lefts followed by a knees against the ropes that hits Radach on the face, a final huge knee causes Leben to slip and fall on his back. Benji jumped on him and Leben started a arm crank. Benji then looked up at the ref as blood was pouring from his mouth. The ref stopped the fight and checks to see what the problem is. Radach tells him he thinks his jaw is broken and The fight is stopped at 3:48 of the 3rd round. Radach was taken immediately to a local hospital. One of the Sportfight staff later confirmed to us that his jaw was broken.
