But the Team Oxendine middleweight with an undefeated pro record has never competed on a Cage Brawl event. Until now. Minton is main eventing Cage Brawl VIII against "The Infamous A.O.", Amaechi Oselukwue.Their professional bout headlines the first pro-am card in Cage Brawl history, taking place this Friday night from the MeadowView Convention Center in Kingsport. ![]() PHOTO: Len Cook, just before stepping into the cage at X Series: Undisputed for his pro debut last October. (Photo by Sandi Moorehouse/MMA-Insider.com) By John Moorehouse In just a couple of weeks, Len Cook is scheduled to fight at XFC 16: High Stakes in a bout that will be televised live on HDNet. That's a big deal for a young man with only one pro bout currently under his belt. Here's the trick, though. Cook has another obstacle between now, and that high-profile contest at XFC 16 against KMAA's Christ Wright. First, he takes on debuting pro Brandon McMahan in a bantamweight bout this Friday at Cage Brawl VIII, the first pro-am show put on under the Cage Brawl banner. Cook knows that his televised bout with Wright could be in jeopardy, depending on what happens against McMahan. A TKO loss, which typically brings with it a medical suspension of 14 or more days, would force the Absolute Jiu-Jitsu standout to drop the XFC fight. So, how does Cook avoid getting caught up in what might happen? "I learned a long time ago not to overwhelm yourself with what if, what if, what if," Cook said. "I’m gonna go in, I’m gonna fight my heart out and whatever happens happens. I’ve got no control over any injury I may or may not get. Really there’s no sense worrying about something you cant do anything about. My plan is to go in there and smash this guy, get through him and then go through the next guy. That’s all I can do. We’ll see how it goes." Click Here to read the entire article...
![]() Cage Brawl VIII goes down this Friday from MeadowView Convention Center in Kingsport. This stacked card includes four pro fights and an amateur card headlined by two title fights. Who's going to leave the cage victorious? Roy Sanders, a new columnist here at MMA-Insider, takes a crack at predicting the outcomes in his debut picks column for MMA-Insider.com. Although there have been many changes to the card, Cage Brawl VIII will still bring some great MMA action to the Tri-Cities. As with all Cage Brawl events, fans of the Tri-Cities will witness some of the best athletes from all over the south east. Tons of local talent, as well as game opponents from as far west as Alabama will be stepping in the cage. Fans will also be treated at Cage Brawl to their first dose of 5 minute rounds with the pro fights being added to the show Absolute Jiu-Jitsu will be looking to take arms, legs, and necks as usual as they send four competitors into the cage (three with unblemished records). Len Cook will be looking to win his second professional fight and stay unbeaten against a very solid Brandon McMahann, making his pro debut. I’m sure Cook has trained hard and does not want to let his hometown crowd down. Len Cook wins this one late in Round 1 via rear naked choke. Click Here to read the entire article....
