Kentucky Fighting Challenge VII Lexington
Ky. Nov 13th 2004
Ground N Pound has been covering KFC for its last 4 events and I have
been impressed every time out. Tim Osborne does a great job
promoting the show, they have an awesome base of fighters with new talent
showing up with each new event. The night kicked off with a set of 14
year old boys competing in a kick boxing match and to see them go at it
you would have thought they had been in the ring before. With all fights
but 2 ending in the first round and the 2 ending in judges decision this
was an awesome night of fights.
Lets get into the action now!!! |
Fight # 1
Luke King vs Anthony Fisher (14 year old kick boxers)
Fisher strikes first but King quickly returns with a kick to the body
and a flurry of punches. Both fighters move around a bit throwing kicks
and feeling each other out. King unleashes a blast of punches that drives
Fisher into the ropes and rocks him, the ref steps in and gives Fisher
a standing 5 count and the fight resumes. Fisher comes back with a front
kick to the body but King can smell the victory already and pulls out
all the stops firing away with lefts and rights & then into the clinch
were King delivers a knee and a front kick of his own. The fighters circle
looking for their chance but its King who jumps in and starts letting
some serious leather fly, he connects several times while backing Fisher
up into the corner where he delivers the final straight right that rocks
Fisher causing the ref to stop the fight.

Fight # 2
Gavin Wuerth vs Gene Click
Both fighters connect at the same time, Gavin with a right cross and Gene

in the clinch which ends on the ropes. After a few knees exchanged Gene
drops for a double leg and tries once more for the takedown but Gavin
is to steady on his feet and the fighters are still on the ropes. Gene
fires off a real solid knee to the head and attempts to follow it up with
a roundhouse kick to the head but ends up kicking too high and falling
backwards. Gavin rushes in and starts unloading lefts and rights while
Gene scrambles to his feet and again clinches looking for a takedown.
G9avin lands a few knees while cinching in the Guillotine and then just
applies the pressure in a standing position and gets the tap out.

the head when Jonathan just stands back up and tries to clinch to stop
Kenny's attack. Jonathan has no luck with it as kenny just pushes back
and unloads again. Jonathan starts getting into the game as his next clinch
works out and he starts bringing the knees in the clinch and delivering
some strikes to the head and body. The fighters work the clinch for a
min exchanging knees and looking for the upper hand when Jonathan connects

Dominic has been at every KFC I have attended and always put on a hell

down.
Casey connects with a wild right and Dominic answers back, the fighters

down causing a backwards roll where Casey lands back on his feet. Dominic
is right there when he comes up and gets a waist lock and tries taking

a spinning reverse roundhouse which nearly catches Josh in the head, Josh
takes that chance to grab a leg and go for another takedown. After a few
seconds Josh gets the takedown sending the fighters into a roll with Josh
ending up on top in side mount. Both fighters exchange blows from the
ground and Alex again gives up his back and rolls out of it leaving Josh
on the mat taking a few leg kicks. Josh stands and goes for the takedown
once more, this time when the fighters go down its Alex ending up on top
in the full mount where he starts to GROUNDNPOUND Josh as he just covers

Tony to go for the clinch. From the clinch Mike lands a solid right that

Robert Baker vs Derek Ruiz
This one was for the belt!!!
Round 1: Both guys come out swinging, clinch up and keep on swinging.
Derek backs Robert into a corner and starts landing a few knees, Robert
pushes his way out of the corner and attempts a heel trip that fails and
decides to pull guard falling to his back. Robert has a high guard and
has Derek's arms tied up so not much striking is taking place, Derek tries
to back out and Robert attempts a Triangle Choke but Derek just pushes
straight through breaking Roberts grip. Derek raises up and drops a bomb
but Robert is moving quick on his back and sends the fighters into a roll,
Derek ends up back on top but Robert quickly attempts a leg lock. Derek
bends back into it and starts raining a few head shots in causing Robert
to release with his hands to block. Robert still controls the leg with
his own legs and in a break from the strikes re-secures a leg lock attempt
causing Derek to roll his way out of it ending back on top with his leg
still locked up by Robert's legs. Derek lands a shot to the head and Robert
decides to roll back into guard from his back and gave up on the leg.
Derek lands a few head shots then crosses to side mount and starts in
with some body shots. Robert starts to move and pulls a nice reversal
putting Derek on his back and getting into his guard. Both fighters are
working on the ground and landing a few shots here and there. After a
little while working the guard Robert decides to go for the leg once more,
grabbing on and sitting back and then it seems as if Derek is saved by
the bell.

Robert gets a waist lock and drives in for the take down but Derek is
able to stay on his feet bringing the fighters against the ropes. Robert
pulls away from the ropes trying another take down but Derek is to steady
on his feet and they just stay in the clinch. They fight from the clinch
a while longer, Derek landing a few knees and Robert looking for the take
down. Robert drops down to his waist and gets a heel trip putting Derek
on his back. They exchange a few blows then out of nowhere Derek attempts
a Triangle Choke sending Robert in an attempt to escape, Robert pulls
free and has Derek on his back and now has side control. in the corner.
Robert drops down a few elbows causing Derek to scoot and the fighters
are in the ropes making the ref turn them around. With Derek on his back
and Robert in an open guard, Robert does a 360 degree spin landing in
a mount which Derek reverses immediately putting Robert on his back. Derek
lands some shots to the head and body then decides to stand and drop some
leg kicks to Robert who is on his back, during one of the leg kicks Robert
shoots and drives Derek to his back. Robert lands a few shots and moves
into side mount, from there he lands some solid head shots and Derek spins
giving up his back, Robert immediately starts going for a RNC but is unsuccessful
as the bell sounds again saving Derek from a possible submission. Both
fighters are demonstrating a very nice ground fight and the fans truly
are enjoying it.
Round 3: The fighters meet center ring and its Robert who lands a shot
to the head and moves in to clinch, Derek lands a few knees on the ropes
and Robert returns a few knees then leg sweeps Derek to the mat. The fighters

up giving Robert his back, Robert immediately goes for the RNC again causing
Derek to roll more trying to escape. Robert holds on and straightens Derek
out, landing shots the the head and body. Derek finally rolls out and
gives up the full mount to Robert where Robert starts pounding away. Derek
rolls again giving up his back where Robert starts in on the choke once
more but just like in Rd 1 & @ the bell sounds taking this fight to
