"GNP" was there to see the action live!

"Kentucky Fighting Challenge is promoted by Tim Osborne & Jimmy MC. They have been hosting events since 2003 and promote fights across Kentucky. Their goal is to provide a legitimate sporting event to the public while promoting the young upcoming fighters. This was their fourth KFC and the house was packed! The card was full of action & I talked with a few of the Fighters before the event and they were as electrified as the crowd. Check out GNP'S coverage of the KFC # 4".

Are you ready? Lets Get It On!!!
Lexington Kentucky, Continental COnvention Center: GNP took a trip up to Lexington to attend KFC# 4. The show was booming with excitement from the crowd and there was an exciting card scheduled for the evening. There were even several from GNP'S hometown that were fighting.
LETS GET TO THE ACTION!!!

The evening started with Mike Johns vs. Josh Pelfry. Mike started out in control, after squaring up it was almost immediately to the clinch. Mike kept landing knees in the clinch while both fighters were looking for the takedown. After several attempts Mike got the heel trip and was immediately in the mount. From there it was straight into a key-lock and victory (Mike Johns By SUB)

The second bout was Andrei Kalinine vs. Dave Vogan. This fight was just too quick, after the fighters squared off it was only seconds before Dave Vogan landed a straight punch that buckled Andrei's legs (Dave Vogan By KO)

The third fight was Anthony Trotter vs. Chad Satterfield. This fights was what I had come to see, Chad started this fight in an explosion and straight to the clinch. Both fighters were working for the takedown but it was Chad achieving a great heel trip and straight into half guard, working the guard it wasn’t long before Satterfield had the mount and was raining down strikes. Anthony made several attempts to buck the mount or to pull Chad in close to avoid being pounded. Once the ref didn’t see Trotter defending while being Ground N Pounded, the fight was stopped (Chad Satterfield By Ref Stoppage)

The fourth bout was James Bowman vs. Shaun Strange. This fight looked promising. Both looked ready and the fight went quickly to the mat. From there it was a bit slow while each worked for the upper hand. Finally the ref got them back on their feet (I would have stood them up sooner). Immediately Bowman shoots in and is met by Shaun's guillotine choke. There wasn’t much resistance from Bowman It was sunk in deep (Shaun Strange By SUB)

Then we had Charles Sutton vs. Billy Dexter. These 2 fighters came to BANG! Neither of these fighters were apprehensive, they exploded to the center of the ring and started exchanging viscous blows (knees, kicks, head strikes). It was all on the table for this one. After Dexter takes down Sutton from the clinch he works hard to get the full mount, where Sutton turns and gives up his back but then sweeps Dexter onto his back. Dexter immediately starts attempting an arm bar but then pulls guard and starts striking from the bottom. After a short time on the ground Dexter attempts an arm bar but Sutton stands straight up and SLAMS Dexter's head on the mat, releasing the arm bar. Out of great instinct or training, Dexter grabs Suttons leg and simultaneously trips him while standing up himself. Sutton is in the butt scoot and Dexter is looking to jump in, but Sutton grabs Dexter’s leg and goes for a heel or toehold. Dexter starts raining blows from above then attempts to pull guard. From there he jumps to side then north south position, all the time slamming in knees to the body and head. Then Dexter just springs into the full mount and starts hailing in tremendous blows to the head. Sutton is saved by the bell.
ROUND TWO Sutton cannot continue. (Billy Dexter By TKO)

The sixth fight was Jamie Watts vs. Mitch Whitseal. Jamie comes out hungry and shoots from the bell but Mitch is ready and it goes to the clinch. Both fighters are landing heavy knees and Jamie goes for a throw but Mitch lands on top. After rolling for a few seconds they are back up and striking until Jamie falls back pulling Mitch into his guard. After Mitch lands a couple of headshots and body elbows, he springs to the mount and Ground N Pounds Jamie till the ref stops the fight (Mitch Whitseal By Ref Stoppage)

Finally one of the GNP Hometown guys is up to fight. Ian Buxhorn vs. John Harper. Ian charged in and both fighters were exchanging some heavy blows and a few knees from brief clinches. John attempts to throw Ian, but Ian is ready and spoils it for John and both roll to the ground. John immediately grabs Ian and BOOM Rampage slams him to the mat. Ian had sunk in a choke during the slam and has John desperately trying to escape. After several blows John pops out of the choke and Ian has rolled over exposing his back. John is right there raining in shots to the head. As Ian attempts to stand John catches him with a strong knee then a right hook which sends Ian down, only to jump right back up ready. After a few seconds Ian lands a low leg kick which sends John down hard and into but scoot position. Ian towers over John waiting for his chance to get into Johns guard. Where he lands several to the body and finishes up round 1
ROUND TWO. Both fighters square of center ring and John attempts another throw, which brings John up in Ians guard. After several attempts to pass Ians guard, John gets caught with a flurry of rights to the head followed by Ian slapping on a triangle choke and submitting John in the 2nd round (Ian Buxhorn By SUB)

In the eighth bout it was Shane Woosley vs. Josh Copper. This was another of those super quick fights. From the bell Josh charged in and grabs Shane for a throw down. Shane lands about 2 blows to the head before Josh slings him to the ground, mounts him and pounds Shane into defeat. (Josh Copper By Ref Stoppage)

The ninth fight was a first for me. I have never seen women fight live. Anne Deville vs. Missy Karr. The women used larger gloves and followed kickboxing rules. Both came out swinging, there were non-stop kicks, knees and punches. Anne delivered several straight shots that rocked Missy, but couldn’t get her down. Missy gave up a few inches so it was a little harder to land punches and she had to close to do so. These women gave 110% and put on one hell of a fight. It went the distance with Anne Deville getting the judges dec. (Anne Deville By DEC)

Tenth was Nick Jackson vs. Billy Cody. Both fighters start out a bit slow, feeling each other out. All of a sudden Nick lands a viscous right that sends Billy to the canvas. Nick is immediately on him and both are fighting for position. Nick tries a guillotine but Billy lands some powerful rights to the body and pops out. With both fighters up, they start exchanging blows and are in and out of the clinch until Nick gets behind Billy and brings him to the mat. From there Nick gets his hooks in and sinks a rear naked choke for the win. (Nick Jackson By SUB)

Next was Chris Keller vs. Josh Means. Chris came out like a bat out of hell. He immediately grabbed Josh in a side throw and slammed him to the mat. In seconds Keller had the mount and was raining in the blows. Josh was bucking and trying everything possible to escape but Chris was just too much. Chris held the mount and continued to Ground N Pound until Josh could not answer and the ref stopped the beating. (Chris Keller By Ref Stoppage)

Bout #12 Kenny Jerrell vs. Roger Seward. Here was another balls to the wall fight. These guys came out hard and fast, slugging it out in the center of the ring. Roger and Kenny both were pounding the strikes in and each got rocked for a second or two but never went down. After several minutes of stand up Kenny leg swept Roger and it finally went to the ground, where both fighters got in some punches but Kenny seemed to be landing the best of them, Round 1 ends with Kenny in control.
ROUND TWO Right back into the action, Kenny gets under hooks and takes Roger to the ground. Roger seemed more content to just hold on and wait to be stood up, while Kenny was trying to get a few shots in but was being unlucky at the moment (ref stands them up) Kenny rushes in and lands a couple head shots then they clinch and fight for position. Kenny gets under hooks in and takes Roger down again This time Rogers lands a few from the bottom and is making Kenny work to keep the top position (ref stands them up) Kenny charges in swinging for the fence and connects a couple times, knocks Rogers mouthpiece out and back in the clinch.
ROUND THREE Again Kenny comes out charged with power and swinging widely. He connects a few times and Rogers looks rocked steps back and grabs Kenny in the clinch, but Kenny just pushes him aside and down to the mat. (Ref checks if Rogers can continue) and he can. It goes to a slow clinch and Rogers’s trips up Kenny and is now in top position for the first time. Rogers is in half guard and is raining in the headshots, (for some reason unknown to me the ref stands them up) Kenny lands a couple before they clinch and are up against the ropes. Rogers gets the under hooks and slams Kenny to the mat. They fight for position and then in the final seconds Rogers gets the full mount and is hammering Kelly till the bell rings. (Kenny Jerrell By DEC)

The thirteenth fight was Thomas Zapf vs. Dominic Ratcliff. These guys were on fire from the bell. They were center ring exchanging blows like there was no tomorrow, then Thomas grabs Dominic in a guillotine and starts throwing the knees. Dominic attempts to pick up Zapf for a slam but that choke is in deep. Dominic starts to send knees to the body as well and escapes the choke then is right back in swinging. Both fighters continue to land fierce kicks and strikes until Dominic shoots and takes down Thomas who has applied another choke during the take down. Dominic lands a couple to the body, pops out of the choke and starts landing some heavy shots from the guard and continues till the end of the round.
ROUND TWO Both fighters come out fast and hard, kicks and punches are flying, a big % is being blocked but some are connecting. All of a sudden Thomas lands a devastating right roundhouse to the head. It sends Dominic to the mat hard! (Thomas Zapf By KO)

14th was the second female fight of the night. Jen Renken vs. Kim Bennett Both women came out strong, throwing severe shots to the head and body. After blocking a kick, Jen sweeps Kim’s other foot and sends her down. Another flurry of strikes by both fighters and Jen knocks Kim down again. Jen lands a kick and spinning back fist, which causes Kim to clinch and take Kim to the mat. Both fighters have been going all out and are starting to look a bit winded. Kim lands a good stiff sidekick followed by a couple good knees. But Jen catches her with a great shot to the face and it seemed Kim was finished at that point. The ref asked if she wanted to continue and she said no. (Jen Renken By Opponent unable to continue)

Bout #15 brought us Tierre Hall vs. Billy Ayash. I had a chance to talk to Billy before the fight and he came to throw down. This was his first KFC and he was going to make his mark. From the bell you could see this one would shake the ring; these huge guys were holding nothing back. Billy rushed in and caught Tierre with a punch that put him to his knees. Billy attacked and sunk in a guillotine choke and drove Tierre to the matt all the time landing knees body strikes. Tierre was fighting hard to escape and made Billy work for the control he had. Then Billy tried to swing around and get Tierre’s back but Tierre reversed it. It was Billy who ended up on the bottom, but didn’t stay there long at all. Billy exploded up and escaped releasing a flurry of punches, which sent Tierre into the duck N cover position. Billy measured off and drove a knee into Tierres side and started mixing it up with punches and knees to the side. It looked to me as if Billy wanted the KO because he then let Tierre get back up. Billy throw a couple more punches and each time Tierre would jump to the ground and cover up, the last time he jumped down, Billy just went with him and pounded Tierre until the ref stopped the fight. (Billy Ayash By Ref Stoppage)

Sixteenth fight was Scott Hope vs. Brian McIntyre Brian jolted out of the corner and caught Scott with a good straight punch that sent him down. It immediately went to the ground but Scott escaped and reversed positions, pounding Brian down until the ref stopped the fight (Scott Hope)

Once again GNP'S hometown boys come to the ring. Jeremiah Huskins vs. Ian Angel. Both fighters came out swinging but it was Ian who connected first sending Jeremiah down to his knees. Jeremiah immediately grabbed Ian’s legs and takes him down and gets side mount. Where he rains in some good elbows to the head and some knees to the body. In an attempt to reverse the situation Ian exposes himself and Jeremiah slaps on a deep guillotine choke and in seconds Ian taps out. (Jeremiah Huskins By SUB)

In the 18th fight it was Rob Nickerson vs. Jake Whitefield. Rob came out and throws a wild punch and Jake just ducks and takes him down. Rob lands a couple of punches as Jake continues to pass the guard. Then during a heavy reversal try, Rob gets back to his feet and they struggle in the clinch for the takedown. This time it’s Rob who lands on top and starts raining in some shots to the head. Jake attempts an arm bar and now he is in top control. Both fighters seem to have a very good ground game. An escape try by Rob, exposes his back and Jack gets the hooks in and starts hammering shots to the sides of Rob’s head. Then Rob rolls out and again has top control. Jake lands a few kicks to the kidneys of Rob, which makes him back off enough for Jake to explode out and regain top control. Jake starts with heavy body and headshots and again ends up with Robs back raining in blows to the head and body. An attempt at an arm bar by Rob opens him up and Jake rolls him and now has Rob mounted and hammering down for the final seconds of round one.
ROUND TWO Rob came charging in with that wild right and Jake just took him straight down. After a min of wrestling for position, Jake has Rob mounted and is raining in the headshots. After several shots to the head and body by Jake, Rob explodes and reverses control again and has Jake on the bottom. Rob lands several good shots while Jake attempts a triangle. After repositioning himself a little Jake attempts a second triangle and sinks this one deep. In just seconds Rob has to tap. (Jake Whitefield By SUB)

Fight #19 Todd Harrison vs. Alex Sepulveda. This fight ended as a No Contest. Alex came like a wild man and from the clinch floored Todd then jumped on him and made Todd submit using a key lock. Then for no reason immediately after the ref seperated the fighters, Alex hammer fisted Todd in the face. The ref immediately shoved Alex to the matt and removed him from the ring. After the ref and judges conferred for a min Alex was DQ'd and the bout was declared a no contest?

The 20th fight was another Hometown fighter Brandon Bledsoe vs. Robert Wayne. Brandon exploded out of the corner and had the submission by arm bar faster than I could raise the camera to get any pictures. (Brandon Bledsoe By SUB)

Semi Main Event Robert Baker vs. Brandon Garner. These guys started out with a bang. From the bell both were exchanging shots and getting some good hits in the clinch. After a couple minutes of stand up, Robert shoots and takes down Brandon and starts fighting for a good position. Brandon is defending well and at just the right moment sinks in an arm bar. After several seconds Robert escapes the arm bar and starts raining in shots from top position. Then Robert switches to side mount and continues to try the Ground N Pound approach. After a couple minutes of pounding on Brandon, Robert switches around and attempts a leg lock but fails and goes back to top position for the rest of round one
ROUND TWO Brandon comes out quick and takes Robert down and gets in his guard. Robert attempts a kimura but that exposes him and now Brandon has taken side mount. Then its back to guard right before Robert reverses the control and has Brandon on his back. Robert jumps to full guard and starts hammering away. Brandon bucks, turns and does a good job of defending and is not receiving too much damage. Robert stays in control landing shots here and there for the remainder of the round and wins by Decision (Robert Baker By DEC)

Main Event Casey Oxendine vs. Dan Swift. Casey is from My hometown. TEAM OXENDINE has gone 3 for 3 so far. Dan Swift is a very experianced fighter going into his 30th bout and has help many chanpionships. Casey has trained hard but this is only his 2nd bout so he is giving up a lot of experiance. This promises to be a brawl.
Casey came out swinging and throwing kicks, Dan was defending well and it wasn’t long before they were in a clinch. Dan picked up Casey and slammed him into a side mount position. Dan then stood up to throw some leg kicks but Casey sprung right up as well, catching a right by Dan on the way up. Casey then shot and took Dan to the ground and was working from the guard. Dan slapped on a triangle and was catching Casey with a couple good shots to the head. Dan continued shots to the body and head while Casey defended the choke. It seemed as if Dan had the choke sunk in real good then all of a sudden Casey popped out and was in Dan’s guard, Dan was hailing in shots to the head and Casey was landing shots to the body as he maneuvered for better top control. They continued exchanging blows with Casey on top the remainder of round one
ROUND TWO Started out in a clinch and went to the ground quick with Dan in top control working from Casey's guard. In a matter of seconds Casey slid in the guillotine choke and locked it in tight. And that was the end of that! (Casey Oxendine By SUB)

And that ended a spectacular night of fights. I look forward to attending the next show as well. Also look for some special interviews to come out of this trip as well.
