KFC 13 - Lexington, KY - May 13 - 2006

Jimmy Mc has put yet another Kentucky Fighting Challenge in to the history books. KFC 13 was a great show bringing several new fighters on the scene and providing the fans with an action packed night of MMA. I was honored to be there to cover the event and to present Jimmy Mc with a GNP Promoter Appreciation award for all his hard work bringing both am and pro MMA to the state of Kentucky.

JR Hines (168 lbs) vs Sam Dills (163 lbs)
ROUND 1: he fighters touch gloves and Sam shoots in but is caught with a couple upper cuts, Sam then drops to the mat attempting to catch JR's legs but is off balance due to the strikes and JR side steps and takes back control. JR then attempts a rear naked choke falling back into position and the fighters roll and on their way back to their feet JR hammers in a solid shot to the head as Sam clinches up. JR then throws Sam to the mat taking the fight back to the ground and starts hammering in shots to the head from side control but is trapped in a head lock. JR steps over to full mount and keeps hammering in shots to the head causing Sam to release the head lock, JR then postures up and starts to hammer in solid shots to the head causing Sam to turn giving up his back and then tapping out to the strikes giving JR the TKO victory.

Don Brown (154 lbs) vs Emanul Kipers (163 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and Don lands a leg kick, both fighters throw out a leg kick and then Emanul shoots in driving Don back against the cage and then picks him up dropping him to the mat, the fighters roll and Don ends up on top in full mount. Don starts to hammer in shots to the head causing Emanul to roll and give up his back, Don immediately begins working for a rear naked choke, the fighters roll a bit but Don keeps working the choke, he then flattens out Emanul and hammers in a few shots to the body and then sinks the choke and pulls back causing Emanul to tap giving Don the submission victory.

Jordan Jackson (139 lbs) vs Justin Parks (137 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and Justin throws a kick just as Jordan drops in for a take down and gets caught in the face but still scores the take down and gets the fight to the mat. Justin lands a few shots to the head from the bottom but Jordan pushes throw and takes side control and then works into full mount where he starts to hammer in shots to the head and then grabs an arm and rolls into an arm bar immediately causing Justin to tap giving Jordan the submission victory.

Justin Moore (183 lbs) vs Albert Stainback (173 lbs)
ROUND 1: Justin takes it to the ground early and stays in control most of the round working from guard to side control and then into full mount before scoring the first and only suasion via arm bar. As the fighters square off again Albert is able to take the fight to the ground but is not able to stay in control for long before Justin reverses putting him on his back, Justin starts working for a kimura but Albert reverses again and puts Justin on his back for a few seconds before he kicks Albert off and the fighters get back to their feet. Justin shoots in and gets the fight back to the ground putting Albert on his back and after a few seconds attempts to swing into another arm bar but Albert pulls free putting him on his back, after a few seconds the fighters get back to their feet where Justin moves in and gets a scoop slam putting Albert on his back once more, Justin finishes off the round in control but is unable to score any other submissions but still taking the win via 1 - 0 submissions

Brandon Dumas (170 lbs) vs Bryan Bandy (165 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and Brandon shoots in driving Bryan against the cage and then picks him up slamming him to the mat. Brandon drops a few knees to the body as well as solid elbows and strikes to the head from side mount, Bryan attempts to cover up but after eating a few shots gets trapped in a key lock and is forced to tap giving Brandon the submission victory.

Bryan Hill (163 lbs) vs Greg Cloyse (165 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Greg moves in to strike but Bryan ducks under and scores a take down bringing the fight to the ground. Bryan lands in the guard and begins working for control as Greg attempts to hold him in close and prevent the striking. Bryan then goes for a key lock but Greg is able to scramble and work free but the fight stays on the ground with Bryan on top. Bryan then lands a solid elbow to the face causing Greg to roll and give up his back, Bryan then sinks in a rear naked choke and in seconds Greg taps giving Bryan the submission victory.

Darryl Doss (148 lbs) vs Raymond Woodruff (155 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and circle coming together center ring and they begin to slug it out. Raymond then throws a kick but Darryl catches it, clinches up and drives Raymond to the ground. Darryl starts to throw a few shots to the head but Raymond pushes him off with his feet and then makes it back to a standing position and begins to move away from Raymond. Darryl moves back in clinching up and the fighters go back to the ground and as the fighters scramble for control Darryl gets his head trapped between Raymond's legs, Darryl gets free and moves back in on Raymond taking side control and then stepping over to full mount where he hammers in a few shots to the head before Raymond is able to pull him in close to prevent the striking. Darryl pushes off and postures up dropping a couple elbows to the head as Raymond tries to control his arms and then Raymond pulls him back in to stop the strikes once more. Raymond then scrambles out and works to his knees and catches Darryl in a guillotine and rolls back attempting to get the choke but Darryl lands several shots to the body and eventually gets his head free, turns and then attempts a guillotine of his own but after several seconds of no activity the ref moves in to stand the fighters and restart the action. The fighters begin to circle and the bell sounds ending round 1 and taking the first fight of the night into round 2.
ROUND 2: The fighters circle for a few seconds and then Raymond throws another kick that Darryl meets while shooting for a take down, Raymond hammers in a few shots to the head as Darryl continues driving for the take down which he eventually gets with a heel trip. Raymond has control of an arm but Darryl soon rolls into a north south position on top and drops a few knees to the body, not much action is taking place so the ref stands the fighters to resume the action. The fighters circle and as Raymond moves in Darryl clinches up and scores another heel trip taking the fight to the ground and ending in full mount. Darryl immediately begins to hammer in shots to the head and keeps it up until the ref stops the fight giving Darryl the TKO victory.

Chris Covey (222 lbs) vs Bryan Good (218 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters circle, Bryan throws a shot to the head but Chris ducks under, the begin to circle again and Bryan throws a kick and Chris moves in and scoops up Bryan and slams him to the mat. Chris moves from side control into full mount and drops some heavy elbows right to the face until the ref comes in to stop the fight giving Chris the TKO victory.

Adam Barnett (230 lbs) vs Jason Hensley (245 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and Jason moves in swinging as Adam backs himself against the cage, Jason then clinches up landing a couple shots to the head and a few knees to the body, Adam tries to circle off the cage but Jason sticks with him and sinks in a guillotine and tries to score the submission from a standing position. Adam pops his head out and takes a step back, Jason moves in to throw a punch but meets a solid right to the face that drops him to the mat giving Adam the KO victory.

Jerry Clore (310 lbs) vs Russ Olin (235 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle before meeting center ring with each throwing a couple shots to the head before they clinch up and begin working for control. The fighters go to the ground with Russ's face being smashed into the cage and Jerry begins to work on a rear naked choke, after a few seconds Russ is able to turn out of the choke putting Jerry on his back against the cage where he begins to hammer in a few shots to the head. Jerry holds him in close to prevent the strikes but Russ is still able to land a few shots to the head. Jerry gets his legs up and pushes Russ back as the fighters roll on the mat, Jerry sits up and lands a shot to the head but Russ is able to turn back around putting Jerry on his back, the ref then moves in to stand the fighters and have the doc check Russ's mouth due to slamming into the cage and eating the shot Jerry threw seconds ago and the doc stops the fight saying Russ is no longer able to continue giving Jerry the TKO victory.

Mike Thompson (205 lbs) vs Daniel Sparks (187 lbs)
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and Daniel starts swinging but doesnt connect, Daniel then shoots in taking Mike to the ground, Mike holds on to prevent striking and Daniel picks him up with a little slam back to the mat. Mike then rolls reversing control and putting Daniel on his back and against the cage. Daniel holds tight to prevent the strikes but after a few seconds Mike is able to posture up and hammer in a few solid shots to the head causing the ref to step in and stop the fight giving Mike the TKO victory, for some reason Mike stands over Daniel and drops a couple more shots to the head after the fight was stopped, not sure if there was bad blood or if Mike just didnt realize the fight was over but after the fight he apologized and the fighters shook hands each showing respect.

Robert Browning (145 lbs) vs Jesse Conley (159 lbs)
ROUND 1: As the fighters circle Jesse throws out a couple upper cuts that fall short and then lands a leg kick, Jesse starts to move in again and Robert clinches up and takes back control taking Jesse to the mat. Jesse scrambles to his knees and as the fighters work for control Robert lands an accidental knee to the back causing the ref to step in and see if Jesse wanted to continue, Jesse is ready to go and the ref restarts the fighters standing. The fighters circle with each throwing out some light jabs, Robert moves in swinging, clinches up and takes Jesse back to the ground. From side control Robert drops a few elbows to the head and soon steps over to full mount where he starts gloating (pointing to the crowd and dropping shots at will) as he drops in a few more solid shots to the head the ref steps in to stop the fight giving Robert the TKO victory
