GFC 9 Oct 14th, 2006 - Pikeville, KY

Gladiator FC unleashed the action to the hardcore fans in Pikeville with more than 25 fights lined up. Congratulations to GFC and all the fighters on an excellent event bringing the fans what they came to see... Knockouts, submissions and ass kicking MMA! Thanks to all the fans who came out to support the event and fighters and to all of you who stopped by the GNP table to say hi. Special congrats go out to Les Stapleton and Kevin Younce on winning the GNP Fighter Of The Night and to all the other fighters winning their bouts, be sure to catch the next GFC live as they celebrate their tenth event.

Bobby Strouth vs Brandon Blair
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Bobby lands a leg kick and a jab followed by a second leg kick, Brandon answers back with a jab and the fighters continue to circle. Bobby lands a front kick to the body, Brandon answers with a leg kick and then attempts a spinning back fist but slips and goes to the mat. Bobby closes in and the fighters clinch as Brandon gets back to his feet, Bobby presses him against the cage, takes a leg and puts Brandon on his back. Bobby lands a few shots to the head as he works to gain side control and then rains down a few more head shots, a couple knees to the body and several elbows to the face before securing an arm and forcing Brandon to tap giving Bobby the submission victory.

Kermit Creech vs Mike Corbit
ROUND 1: Mike lands a leg kick as Kermit rushes in to clinch and the fighters begin working for control. The fighters scramble in the clinch and the fight goes to the ground for a couple seconds but they quickly make it back to their feet and continue working the clinch. Kermit lands a couple knees to the body and Mike answers back with several of his own before they push out from the clinch and begin to circle. Mike throws out a few punches that fall short before Kermit shoots in to clinch and begins working for a take down, after a few seconds Kermit scores a heel trip and puts Mike on his back landing in his guard. Mike lands several shots to the body as Kermit works into half guard and then postures up and hammers in some solid shots to the head, Mike attempts to block and control his arms to prevent the striking but Kermit continues to land shots to the head and then traps an arm under his knee and pound in several more as the bell sounds ending the first round.
ROUND 2: The fighters circle with each throwing a looping shot that misses before Kermit shoots in for the clinch and begins working to get the fight back to the ground. After a couple seconds against the cage Kermit takes Mike to the ground and picks up where he left off in the first round by hammering in a few shots to the head and then grabs a leg rolling into an attempt of a heel hook, Mike tries to stand and bend into it but Kermit cranks away and pushes Mike back to the ground. Mike lands several heel strikes to the upper arm forcing Kermit to release the submission and step back into the guard with Mike on his back. Kermit lands a couple shots to the head and then stands where he starts to work a heel hook but pushes Mike's legs to the side and takes side control. Kermit hammers in a few shots to the head and then works over to full mount where he pounds in a few more before grabbing an arm and starts working a kimura, Mike is able to get free of the submission, Kermit postures up and lands a couple more shots before rolling into an arm bar attempt just as the bell sounds saving Mike from the submission and ending the second round.
ROUND 3: Mike lands a couple leg kicks as the fighters circle but Kermit moves in and quickly takes the fight to the ground. Mike lands a couple shots to the body as Kermit works over to full mount where he postures up, traps an arm and begins hammering in shots to the head. Kermit works the mount and controls the fight landing several more shots to the head, Mike then sweeps putting Kermit on his back just as the bell sounds ending the fight and sending it to the judges.

Kevin Younce vs Jon Ward
ROUND 1: The fighters exchange a few shots as they circle, Kevin then shoots in and takes the fight to the ground. Jon holds Kevin in close but after a few seconds Kevin is able to break free and begins to hammer in shots to the head. Jon again pulls him in close to prevent the strikes but Kevin lands several to the body, after the action dies off a little due to Jon holding Kevin in close the ref moves in to stand the fighters to kick start the action. The fighters circle, clinch up and then go to the ground, Jon locks in a head lock and rolls to his knees with Kevin stretched across his back, Jon hammers in a few shots to the head and Kevin returns a few to the body as the bell sounds ending the round.
ROUND 2: Kevin jumps in landing a superman punch, the fighters exchange a couple shots and clinch up where they begin to work for control. Jon attempts to lock in a guillotine but Kevin pops his head free and lands a shot to the head as Jon circles off the fence. The fighters exchange a couple shots to the head and then clinch where Kevin throws Jon to the ground but they roll and its Jon ending on top but then taps out giving Kevin the TKO victory.

Joey Sutton vs Jerry Fields
ROUND 1: The fighters begin to circle, Joey lands a couple shots to the head and Jerry swings back but misses, Joey lands another head shot and moves in to clinch where the fighters begin working for control. Several seconds pass before Joey works around and tries to take Jerry's back, Jerry turns into it and the fighters push out of the clinch and begin to circle. Joey lands a solid leg kick and shot to the head before moving back in to clinch where he locks in a guillotine and pulls guard taking the fight to the ground. Jerry gets his head free and the fighters begin to scramble for control getting to their feet, Joey then muscles the fight back to the ground where he starts working to take Jerry's back but the fighters get back to their feet where Jerry turns into Joey and locks in a guillotine and pulls guard. The fighters roll to their side, Jerry keeps the choke locked in and hammers in several body shots but the action is slowing and the ref moves in to stand the fighters. The fighters start to circle, Joey lands a couple leg kicks and then connects with a solid right cross as Jerry moves in to swing just as the bell sounds ending the round.
ROUND 2: The fighters start to circle, Joey lands a shot to the face and a couple leg kicks before moving in where the fighters exchange a couple shots as Joey attempts to clinch and take control. Joey lands a couple more shots to the head and then moves in to clinch up locking in head control, Jerry throws a few shots to the body to try to get free but Joey moves off the cage and cranks on the choke before landing a couple knees to the head and taking Jerry to the mat where the fighters end up on their knees. Joey moves around taking Jerry's back and locks in a rear naked choke, before he can sink in his hooks and fall to his back Jerry is forced to tap giving Joey the submission victory.

Kevin Yeary vs Brad Bond
ROUND 1: Kevin jumps in with a superman punch attempt into the clinch, Brad throws a knee to the body and the fighters go to the ground as the scramble for control ending with Kevin on top in side control where he lands a couple shots to the head and body before the fighters work back to their feet. After a couple seconds Kevin scores another take down but the fighters work back to their feet where they exchange a couple knees in the clinch, Kevin then takes Brad to the mat again slinging him down by grabbing one leg and then moves into his guard where he lands a few body and head shots as Brad works to hold him in close. Kevin lands several more shots to the body and a few to the head but Brad has a tight grip holding him in which causes the ref to move in and stand the fighters. Brad moves in landing a shot to the head, Kevin ducks in and again takes the fight to the ground ending in full guard. Brad holds him in close but Kevin is able to fire off a few shots to the head before the bell sounds ending the first round.
ROUND 2: Kevin immediately shoots in taking Brad to the mat where he lands a couple to the head and body before Brad con pull him in to his guard, Kevin throws a couple more body shots and Brad is able to scramble to his feet but he goes right back down and Kevin lands a couple more to the head as he works to clear the guard. Kevin takes side mount and ties up one of Brad's arms with his legs and hammers in a couple shots to the head, Brad tries to get free but in the end Kevin uses his legs to lock up the arm in a submission and forces Brad to tap giving Kevin the victory with an awesome arm bar/kimura using his legs.

Jack Nicholas vs Justin Hamilton
ROUND 1: Jack comes out and lands a couple straight shots to the head, Justin works his way inside to clinch to avoid the strikes but then turns giving up his back. Jack then lands an elbow to the back of the head causing the ref to give a warning, separate the fighters and restart the action. Justin comes in with his head down and eats a couple solid shots that back him up against the cage, Jack closes in landing a couple more straight to the head forcing Justin to tap to the strikes giving Jack the TKO victory.

Mitch Diles vs Larry Rogers
ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring and throw out a leg kick at the same time, Larry then hammers in a couple shots to the head as the fighters clinch and then go to the ground with Larry landing on top. Mitch locks in his guard as Larry hammers in a few shots to the head before stepping over to full guard. Larry drops a couple more shots causing Mitch to turn giving up his back but then moves out and gets back to his feet. Larry closes in and lands a front kick and then a couple shots to the head, the fighters clinch up and then go to the ground ending with Mitch on top. Mitch lands a couple from the top and Larry answers back with a couple from the bottom but the action dies off and the ref moves in to stand the fighters. The fighters circle, Larry throws out a couple light leg kicks and Mitch moves in swinging and lands a couple shots to the head. Both fighters begin to looked gassed, Mitch moves back in landing a couple shots to the head, Larry answers back with one of his own and the fighters begin to circle as the bell sounds ending the round.
ROUND 2: The fighters start to circle, Mitch moves in swinging and lands a few solid shots to the head, Larry clinches up and pulls Mitch to the ground with Mitch landing on top where he works into full mount and starts hammering in heavy shots to the head until Larry taps to the strikes giving Mitch the TKO victory.

Adam Mays vs Andy Chaffins
ROUND 1: The fighters circle each throwing out a few jabs, Adam lands a few shots to the body and then moves in to clinch up but Andy lands a knee causing him to back out of the clinch and the fighters continue to circle. Andy lands a couple shots to the head and a knee to the body, Adam clinches and returns the knee but Andy fires off a couple more shots to the head that Adam blocks and they clinch to exchange a couple more knees. Adam then lands a knee to the head and several upper cuts to the face, after the fourth or fifth one Andy's mouth piece goes flying across the ring and he crumbles to the mat causing the ref to move in giving Adam the KO victory.

Jonathan Jackson vs Juan Cortes
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Jonathan moves right in and lands several shots to the head causing Juan to clinch but he then eats a couple solid knees to the face. Jonathan then takes him to the ground ending in full mount where he pounds in heavy shots to the head bouncing Juan's head off the mat and causing the ref to move in and stop the fight giving Jonathan the KO victory.

Adam Sepulveda vs Brett Hunter
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and circle, Adam lands a few leg kicks and Brett answers back with a shot to the head but Adam ducks under and moves in to clinch. Adam lands a couple knees and a punch to the body before putting Brett on his back, Adam then grabs an arm from side mount and begins working a kimura, a couple seconds later Brett is forced to tap giving Adam the submission victory.

Sean Beller vs Rodney Humphrey
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and circle, Rodney starts to move in and Sean ducks under and takes him to the mat. Rodney locks in a guillotine and attempts to work the choke but after several seconds of not pulling off the submission the ref stands the fighters to kick start the action. Sean lands a leg kick that drops Rodney to his knees, as Sean moves in Rodney grabs a hold as he works to take the fight to the ground but it is Sean putting Rodney on his back. Sean then steps over to full mount and hammers in a couple strikes to the head, Rodney tries to buck free but Sean stays in control. Sean drops a couple more shots to the head that cause Rodney to turn giving up his back. Sean starts working a rear naked choke and then rolls to his back cranking away until Rodney taps giving Sean the submission victory.

Les Stapleton vs Jack Hamilton
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Les lands a shot to the head, Jack moves in to clinch but is pushed away and they continue to circle. Jack moves back in swinging and the fighters exchange a few shots to the head before Jack clinches pressing Les against the cage. Les lands a knee to the body, Jack answers back with a couple shots to the head and then Les picks him up and puts him on the mat. Les steps over to full mount and lands a couple shots to the body before he postures up and begins to hammer in the GROUNDNPOUND! Jack covers up but is eating several shots to the face, Les then pins down an arm and continues to pound in shots to the head where he finishes out the round on top, in control and raining down shots to the head.
ROUND 2: The fighters touch gloves, Jack moves in swinging and clinches up where he lands a few knees to the body before the fighters start working around the cage to gain control. Les bends down to grab a leg and Jack throws a knee but slips and ends up on his back, LEs drops down on top and works into full mount where he picks up where he left off at the end of round 1 by hammering in shots to the head. Les drops several punches and elbows to the head, Jack attempts to cover up but is eating several shots before the ref steps in stopping the fight giving Les the TKO victory.

ROUND 1: Corey comes out and lands a leg kick, follows up with two shots to the head and sends Kevin to the mat causing the ref to step in giving Corey the KO victory.

Gary Compton vs Ricky Conley
ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring, Ricky connects with a punch to the head just as Gary connects with a roundhouse to the head, Gary goes to the ground. Ricky rushes in and lands a shot to the head just as Ricky gets back to his feet but gets knocked back against the cage. Ricky rushes in and the fighters exchange a knee just before Gary takes Ricky to the mat and steps over to full mount. Gary lands a couple shots to the head but Ricky then scrambles and reverses control putting Gary on his back. Ricky is able to fire off a couple shots to the head as Gary holds him in close and works to reverse, Ricky stands and gets swept to his back as Gary takes top control once again but Ricky has turned giving up his back. Gary lands a couple shots and attempts to work a rear naked choke but Ricky is able to get back to his feet, Gary lands a knee to the head and then backs off a couple steps. Gary closes back in and lands a couple shots to the head, Ricky turns and runs away to escape the strikes but Gary closes back in and hammers in several more shots to the head, Ricky starts looking woozy as Gary is landing shots with Ricky against the cage and the ref steps in stopping the fight and giving Gary the TKO victory.

ROUND 1: Bones comes out swinging and drives Ernie back against the cage, Ernie answers back with a couple shots and Bones keeps landing solid head shots until he drops Ernie to the mat. Bones drops down and continues hammering in shots to the head until Ernie taps to the strikes giving Bones the TKO victory.

Jason Chavis vs Derrick Mollett
ROUND 1: The fighters start to circle, Jason rushes in to clinch and drives Derrick back against the cage where the fighters exchange a knee while they work for control. Derrick lands a couple shots to the head as Jason works to get the fight to the ground, Jason goes for a hip toss but as the fighters go down it is Derrick ending up on top. Jason immediately starts working a triangle choke, Derrick lands a couple shots to the head trying to escape but in the end is forced to tap giving Jason the submission victory.

Jason Wolf vs Delmar Rose
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and throw out a couple jabs Jason closes in to clinch but Delmar locks in a guillotine and pulls the fight to the ground. Jason gets back to his feet, Delmar lands a few shots to the body while still controlling the head and Jason picks him up and drives him back against the cage and then picks him up once more and dumps him to the mat. Delmar works back to his feet but Jason again picks him up and takes the fight back to the canvas, the fighters exchange a few shots on the ground with Jason on top and landing most of the strikes. Delmar attempts to hold him in close but Jason is still able to fire off a few more shots to the head. Jason then stands, grabs a foot and falls back into a heel hook, Delmar lands a couple shots to the head trying to escape but in the end is forced to tap giving Jason the submission victory.

Josh Stepp vs Mark Maynard
ROUND 1: The fighters come together after circling and clinch, each working to get the fight to the ground. After a couple seconds they hit the canvas with Josh ending up on top, Josh lands a couple shots but Mark quickly reverses and throws a few shots of his own before the fighters work to their knees and then back to their feet. Mark lands a knee, Josh drives him back against the cage and then scores a double leg take down putting Mark on his back. Josh lands several shots to the head and a few to the body before Mark sweeps to roll Josh to his back but Josh keeps rolling and Mark ends up on his back with Josh in side control hammering in shots to the head. Josh lands several more to the body and a couple to the head before stepping over to full mount but Mark is holding him in close to prevent to much damage as they finish out the first round with Josh in control.
ROUND 2: Mark comes out with a jumping front kick, the fighters start to circle and Josh swings but misses as Mark ducks under and shoots in. Josh muscles him to the ground and lands a couple shots to the body as he takes side control, Mark is holding him in close so Josh stands picking him up and drops him back to the mat in Josh's corner. Josh lands a couple shots to the head and starts to step over to full mount but gets swept with Mark ending up on top. Josh holds Mark in close to prevent the striking, after a few seconds Mark tries to stand to break the grip but Josh pushes him off and the fighters scramble with Josh ending back on top. Josh moves into side control and then full mount where he postures up and hammers in a few shots to the head, Mark tries to buck free but Josh keeps his base and stays in control on top. Josh hammers in a couple more shots to the head, Mark pulls him in back close and Josh then goes to landing body shots to finish out the round.
ROUND 3: Mark was not able to answer the bell for round three giving Josh the TKO victory.

Anthony Liakakos vs Brian Murphy
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Anthony shoots in and begins working a single leg take down and after several seconds of a stale mate the ref moves in to separate the fighters. The fighters circle, Anthony lands a couple straight shots to the face and Brian closes in to clinch, Anthony drives him back against the cage but again it ends in a stale mate and the ref moves in to separate the fighters. Anthony lands a solid shot that drops Brian to the mat, Anthony moves in and lands a coupe shots and the ref moves in to stop the fight giving Anthony the TKO victory.

Ricky Conley vs Jack Ward
ROUND 1: Ricky lands a knee and the fighters clinch and begin working for control ending with Jack on top in full guard. Jack lands a few shots to the body and then breaks free of Ricky's grip and begins pounding in head shots and elbows to the head, Ricky then pulls him back in close to prevent the striking and after a few seconds on inactivity the ref moves in to stand the fighters but Jack is not able to continue the fight giving Ricky the tKO victory.

Andrew Yeary vs Chris Love
ROUND 1: Chris moves in and Andrew lands a shot to the head, clinches up and takes Chris to the mat. Chris locks in a guillotine and the fighters get back to their feet. Andrew starts working for a double leg take down and Chris hammers in a couple shots to the body before Andrew picks him up and slams him to the mat. Andrew lands a couple shots causing Chris to turn giving up his back, Andrew hammers in a few more shots before the fighters work back to their feet and start working the clinch. Chris lands a couple knees but in the end Andrew gets him back to the ground and starts working a rear naked choke, Andrew lands a few shots to the head and the fighters scramble back to their feet but Andrew locks in a guillotine and pulls Chris back to the mat. Again they work back to their feet and exchange a couple shots before clinching up and Andrew scoring another take down just as the bell sounds ending the first round.
ROUND 2: The fighters touch gloves, Andrew lands a leg kick and then a high kick to the face that drops Chris to his knees. Andrew moves in just as Chris gets back to his feet and lands a flying knee to the body, drops in and takes Chris to the ground. Andrew takes full mount and drops down several shots to the head, Chris rolls giving up his back and Andrew starts to work a rear naked choke but Chris turns in to it and rolls Andrew to his back. The fighters work for control for several seconds, Andrew ends up sweeping Chris to his back but Chris reverses as the fighters scramble for control and Chris ends up back on top. Chris lands a few shots to the head but again control gets reversed as Andrew sweeps and ends up in full mount. Andrew lands several shots to the head and then rolls to an arm bar attempt, after working the arm bar for a few seconds the bell sounds saving Chris from the submission and ending the second round.
ROUND 3: Chris lands a couple shots to the head, Andrew drops in for a take down and puts Chris on his back. Chris works to his feet but Andrew locks in a guillotine and pulls guard taking the fight back to the ground. Chris hammers in a couple shots to the body to get free of the choke and then lands a couple head shots as Andrew starts to work for an arm bar. Andrew then reverses control, the fighters scramble on the ground and Chris gets to his knees where Andrew takes side/back control and hammers in a few shots to the head. Andrew then rolls Chris to his back pinning one of his arms under him and slams in a few shots to the head. The fighters roll a bit more with Chris ending up on top where he lands a few shots to the head and the fighters finish out the round working for control on the ground and send the fights to the judges.

Dan Muncy vs Daven Plaisence
ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring Daven throws a shot to the head but Dan ducks under and shoots for a take down, Daven sprawls out and the fighters work back to their feet. They come back together each throwing a kick at the same time, Daven then moves in landing a couple shots to the head and Dan shoots back in but again Daven sprawls out defending the take down. The fighters scramble for control and Daven hammers in several shots to the head from north south position. Dan then works through and dumps Daven to his back ending in his guard, Dan powers through the guard and ends in side control but then flips over and the fighters scramble on the ground working for control ending with Dan back on top in the guard. Dan hammers in a couple shots to the head, Daven answers back with a few from the bottom and then attempts to slap on an arm bar but Dan pushes through and lands several more head shots before moving into side control and then full mount. Dan then postures up and begins hammering in shots to the head, Daven tries to buck free but in the end taps to the strikes giving Dan the TKO victory.

ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring, Greg lands a leg kick that knocks Adam to the mat, Greg drops in and begins hammering in solid shots to the head until the ref steps in to stop the fight giving Greg the TKO victory.

ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring, Dean throws a leg kick and shot to the head, Glen answers back with a couple shots to the head and then clinches up and drives Dean back against the cage and starts working for a take down. Glen gets Dean to his back and drops a couple shots to the head along with a solid elbow to the face before standing over him and landing a couple leg kicks while Dean is still on his back. Dean then starts to stand and eats a shot to the face on the way up, Glen closes in and clinches, starts working a double leg take down and then the fighters separate and begin to circle. Dean lands a leg kick, the fighters exchange a couple head shots and Glen drives in taking Dean back to the ground ending in his guard. Glen throws a few shots to the body and head as Dean works to try and control his arms to prevent much damage Glen drops several more shots to the head before standing over Dean and dropping a couple more. Dean attempts to roll free of the strikes but Glen drops back down taking full mount where he hammers in a couple more shots causing Dean to roll giving up his back, Glen then locks in a rear naked choke and rolls to his back but Dean turns into it, Glen sits up and lands another solid shot to the head and Dean again gives up his back. Glen hammers in a few more shots to the side of the head as the bell sounds ending the first round.
