Gladiator FIghting Championships 10 - Prestonsberg, KY Nov 11, 2006

Gladiator FC packed the house in Prestonsberg, KY and treated the fans to an action packed night of MMA. With a few new Champions, a womans match and a night filled with KO's, Submissions and Ref stopages the fans of Prestonberg are primed for the return of GFC to the area.

Donny Greathouse vs Brad Bound
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Donny throws out a couple short jabs and then connects with a bomb that drops Brad to the canvas. Donny drops down on top of Brad, Brad grabs a leg and starts driving in to roll Donny to his back but Donny locks in a guillotine and drops back pulling guard. Brad tries to pull free but within seconds Brad is choked out causing the ref to move in giving Donny the TKO victory via choke out.

Russell Gibson vs Brandon McGraw
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Russell throws out a couple jabs as the fighters circle and then shoots in taking the fight to the ground. Russell then grabs an arm and begins working for a kimura but then lets it go as the fighters work into the ropes. The ref turns the fighters and Brandon immediately sweeps putting Russell on his back. Russell starts landing a few elbows to the head from the bottom and working a high guard, Brandon lifts him for a low slam to the mat from in his guard and then Russell locks in a triangle and lands a few more elbows to the head. Russell continues working the triangle and landing elbows to the head for several seconds as the fighters finish out the first round.
ROUND 2: The fighters start to circle, Russell throws out a couple light leg kicks and Brandon answers back with a shot to the head before they clinch up and begin working for control. Russell takes the fight back to the ground and Brandon locks in a guillotine on their way down, Russell takes side mount and works to get his head free, after several seconds Brandon traps him in half guard but Russell is still able to free his head and then begins dropping shots to the body. Russell then grabs an arm and attempts to lock in a kimura but Brandon is able to get his arm free and the fighters continue working for control on the ground. Russell has worked into full mount and starts working a head arm choke but after a few seconds lets it go and drops a couple shots to the head, Brandon attempts to hold him in close is able to posture up, land a couple hammer fists and then go for another kimura attempt. Brandon frees his arm but then eats a few more shots to the head before he is able to pull Russell back in close to prevent the strikes just as the bell sounds ending round 2.
ROUND 3: Russell throws out a couple jabs and then connects with a stiff jab and a leg kick as the fighters circle, the fighters exchange a couple jabs and then Russell rushes in to clinch where Brandon lands a couple knees to the head before Russell continues moving forward and drives Brandon to the ground. Russell then hammers in a few shots to the head and body as he works to clear the half guard and postures up where he lands a couple solid shots to the head that end up knocking Brandon out and forcing the ref to move in and stop the fight giving Russell the KO victory.

Delmar Rose vs Greg Swartz
ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring and exchange a shot to the head as they clinch up and the fight goes to the ground. GReg lands a couple shots to the head as the fighters scramble for control and it ends with Greg taking Delmar's back where he begins working a rear naked choke. Delmar lands several shots to the head over his shoulder and then turns into the choke putting Greg on his back and ending in full guard. Delmar lands a few shots to the body as he steps over to full mount and the postures up and hammers in a couple shots to the head. Greg turns giving up his back and then escapes out the back and both fighters make it to their feet. Delmar moves in and the fighters exchange several shots to the head before clinching against the ropes, Greg lands a couple to the body and they push out of the clinch and exchange several more head shots before backing away and then starting to circle as they catch their breath. Delmar closes in and the fighters exchange a couple more shots to the head before Delmar clinches up and the fight goes back to the ground, the fighters roll and it is Greg ending up on the bottom with Delmar in side control. Delmar steps over to full mount and hammers in a few shots to the head causing Greg to turn giving up his back, Delmar locks in a rear choke and begins cranking away while sitting on Greg's back in a surfboard type choke. Within seconds Greg is forced to tap giving Delmar the submission victory.

Ryan Bryant vs Corey Click
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves Corey then jumps in with a flying knee and the fighters clinch on the ropes where Ryan lands a few knees to the head and body while Corey throws a few body shots. Corey then attempts to pick Ryan up as Ryan locks in a guillotine and holds on tight keeping the fight standing. After a few seconds the fighters exchange a few knees to the leg and after several more seconds it is clear the choke isnt working so the ref moves in to separate the fighters and restart the action. The fighters touch gloves, Corey shoots in and takes Ryan to the mat landing in full mount but Ryan locked in a guillotine on the way down. Corey lands a few shots to the body as he works to get free of the choke and after several seconds is able to crossface his way free but Ryan holds on tight to prevent Corey being able to create distance. Corey throws a few short blows to the head and then Ryan releases his grip, falls back and then turns into Corey reversing control and ending up on top. Ryan then postures up and begins firing in shots to the head, Ryan lands several shots before Corey is able to lock in the guard and pull him in close to reduce the strikes but Ryan keeps landing shots as he works to break the grip. Ryan then postures back up and starts firing in more shots to the head just as the bell sounds ending the round.
ROUND 2: The fighters touch gloves, Corey moves in landing a couple shots to the head before the fighters clinch where Ryan answers back with a few knees to the body as Corey presses him back into a corner. Corey lands a couple knees to the leg as he works to get the fight to the ground, Ryan answers with several knees to the face before Corey is able to push free of the clinch and back away. Corey moves back in swinging and lands a couple to the head before the fighters clinch and the fight goes to the ground, Corey ends up on top but Ryan holds him in close to prevent the strikes and the fighters work for control on the ground. Corey then postures up to swing but Ryan locks in an arm bar attempt and rolls Corey to the ground where he drops a few shots to the head and continues working for the arm bar. Corey then gets his arm free and stands, Ryan backs away and gets to his feet as well and the fight continues. The fighters circle and then exchange a few shots to the head before they clinch against the ropes. Ryan then pushes out of the clinch and hammers in a couple shots to the head just as the bell sounds ending the second round.
ROUND 3: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Corey moves in swinging and Ryan answers back landing a shot to the head before the fighters clinch against the ropes. Corey throws a few shots to the body and Ryan answers back with a couple knees before the fighters break the clinch and exchange a couple head shots. Corey clinches back up pressing Ryan into the corner but Ryan scores a heel trip and takes the fight to the ground landing in full mount. Ryan postures up and begins hammering in shots to the head, after eating several straight shots Corey is able to wrap his legs around Ryan and push him to his back, Ryan grabs an ankle and starts to work a heel hook but then sits back up and takes the mount where he resumes pounding in shots to the head. Corey attempts to get free but in the end the ref moves in to stop the fight giving Ryan the tKO victory.

Brent Newsome vs Daniel Wallace
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Daniel lands a front kick and then Brent moves in swinging and lands a few shots to the head as he backs Daniel into the corner. Brent keeps hammering in shots and knocks Daniel to the ground, Daniel makes it back to his feet before Brent can close in but Brent keeps moving forward and landing shots backing Daniel into another corner. Brent keeps hammering in shots to the head and then slings Daniel to the mat where he locks in a rear naked choke and forces Daniel to tap giving Brent the submission victory.

Thomas McDavid vs Chris Walker
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Chris moves in to clinch and eats a shot to the head before clinching up where the fighters begin working for control. The fight goes to the ground with Thomas ending on top in side mount where he hammers in several shots to the face. Chris works to hold him in close but Thomas still lands several shots to the body as he works to get free. The fighters get into the ropes just as Thomas starts to posture up and hammer in shots to the head but after the ref repositions the fighters center ring Chris is able to sweep putting Thomas on his back. Thomas holds him in close as the get back into the ropes and have to be moved out once more, Chris lands a few shots to the body but then Thomas sweeps and puts him on his back and lands a couple solid shots to the head. Thomas then stands in the guard and drops several thundering shots to the head as he stands over Chris, Chris is then able to push Thomas away and starts to make it to his feet but Thomas closes in and takes his back where he begins working to sink in a choke. After a few seconds Chris is able to roll out and reverse control putting Thomas on his back and takes full mount. Chris lands several short elbows and a few shots to the head as Thomas attempts to hold him in close to prevent the damage as Chris rides out the mount landing shots when the bell sounds ending the first round.
ROUND 2: The fighters touch gloves and exchange a couple shots as they circle before clinching up where they start to work on getting the fight to the ground. Thomas then lands a knee to the head and Chris falls back pulling Thomas to the ground with him, Chris turns and Thomas takes side back control before the fighters roll with Chris ending up on his back and Thomas landing a couple shots to the head. Chris then makes it to his knees but Thomas throws a illegal knee to the head and the ref separates the fighters and gives Thomas a warning before he restarts the fight. Chris throws a front kick and Thomas answers back with a shot to the head before shooting in and taking Chris to the ground. Thomas starts landing shots to the head causing Chris to turn giving up his back, Thomas lands a couple more shots to the head and Chris starts to work back to his feet but Thomas picks him up and drops him back to the canvas. Thomas lands several more shots to the head and then starts to sink in a rear naked choke but lets go and resumes pounding in shots to the head as Chris just covers up to defend. Then the ref stands the fighters and just as they start back the bell sounds ending the second round.
ROUND 3: Chris is unable to answer the bell for round 3 giving Thomas the TKO victory.

Ryan Robinette vs Shannon Emory
ROUND 1: Ryan comes straight across and lands a huge shot to the face and the fighters go to the ground with Ryan on top hammering in shots to the head and Shannon attempting to get some kind of control from the bottom to stop the strikes. The fighters get back to their feet and Ryan picks up Shannon and dumps him back to the canvas landing in side control and dropping in shots to the head, Shannon then turns giving up his back and Ryan sinks in his hooks and hammers in several shots to the head until the ref moves in stopping the fight and giving Ryan the TKO victory.

Nathan Moore vs Jonathan Endicott
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and exchange a couple shots to the head before Jonathan shoots in for a take down, Nathan locks in a guillotine and starts cranking away from a standing position and in seconds forces Jonathan to tap giving Nathan the submission victory.

Sean Beller vs Trenton Edwards
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Sean moves in landing a couple shots to the head and the fighters clinch up, Trenton then scores a leg trip and the fight goes to the ground with Trenton landing on top. The fighters exchange a couple shots to the head and then Sean swings around and locks in a triangle choke from the bottom. Trenton lands a few shots to the head trying to get free of the choke but Sean cranks the choke and starts pounding in shots to the head forcing Trenton to tap, giving Sean the submission victory.

Jack Nicholas vs John Back
ROUND 1: John moves in swinging but Jack ducks under and shoots in to clinch, Jack then throws John to the ground, Jack then lands a shot to the face as John works to get back to his feet, the fighters exchange a couple shots to the head and then clinch up and begin working for control. John lands a couple knees to the body and then Jack pushes out of the clinch landing a shot to the head. John answers back with a shot to the head and the fighters separate and begin to circle, the fighters exchange a few more shots and then clinch against the ropes. The begin working for control and John turns giving up his back, Jack presses him into the ropes and the ref separates the fighters before they get tangled in the ropes. Jack moves back in landing shots to the head, John answers back and the fighters go to the ground with Jack landing on top where he begins pounding in shots to the head until the ref steps in to stop the fight giving Jack the TKO victory.

Brandy Shell vs Bobby Jo Hall
Brandy comes in and connects first, Brandy gave up a lot of weight in this bout so the modified rules where that the fight would not go to the ground. Bobby Jo being the heavier of the fighters controlled most of the clinch but Brandy was the aggressor during the stand up. Rounds 1 & 2 were non stop with the fighters exchanging shots the entire time. Brandy landed more shots and they seemed a bit more controlled. The action slowed a bit in the 3rd round and the fight ended up going to the judges. While I gave all three rounds to Brandy, in my opinion each of the fighters are potential champions in their respective weight classes.

Willard Hackworth vs Larry Rogers
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Willard lands a stiff jab and Larry answers back with a leg kick before the fighters come together and exchange a couple shots before clinching. Willard then picks Larry up and puts him on his back, after a couple seconds of working for control Willard postures up and begins hammering in shots to the head. The fighters work into the ropes and the ref moves the fighters center ring where Willard lands a couple more shots before Larry is able to lock in the guard and pull him in close to prevent the striking. After a couple seconds Willard is able to break the grip, posture up and pound in shots to the head until Larry taps to the strikes giving Willard the TKO victory.

James Gregg vs Raymon Webb
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, James lands a couple front kicks before Raymon shoots in and the fight goes to the ground with James on the bottom, Raymon lands a few light shots to the head but James quickly gains arm control and starts working a triangle choke. Raymon lands several shots to the body as he works to get free of the choke but in the end he is forced to tap giving James the submission victory.

ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves and circle, David lands a couple shots to the head before the fighters clinch up and begin working for control. Forrest lands a couple knees in the clinch David lands a couple shots to the head and the fight goes to the ground with Forrest on top. Forrest takes full mount and begins landing shots to the head, after a few seconds David is able to sweep and reverse control putting Forrest on his back but the fighters work into the ropes and have to be moved center ring. Forrest holds on a tight guard and after several seconds David starts to posture up but Forrest goes with him and the fighters get to their feet, Forrest quickly goes behind David and jumps on his back sinking in a rear naked choke, Forrest then falls back cranking the choke and forcing David to tap.

Brandon Howard vs Jeff Mullins
ROUND 1: Brandon rushes across the ring, lands a couple shots to the body and the fighters clinch. Brandon lands a couple more shots to the head and then picks Jeff up and as he is slamming him to the mat Jeff's arm gets trapped in the ropes for a split second, Brandon lands a couple huge shots to the head and then slaps in a rear naked choke forcing Jeff to tap. Because Jeff's arm got tangled in the ropes the ref decides to restart the action and the fighters pair off in neutral corners. Brandon and Jeff both take off and meet center ring in a flying knee attempt and both go to the ground with Brandon on top, Brandon immediately takes full mount and begins hammering in shots to the head until Jeff taps to the strikes giving Brandon the TKO victory.

Elza Webb vs Billy Smith
ROUND 1: Elza shoots in and the fighters clinch on the ropes, the fight then goes to the ground with Elza on top hammering in shots to the head. Billy is able to sweep putting Elza on his back but Elza holds him in close to reduce the striking as Billy steps over to full mount. After a few seconds Billy is able to posture up and land a few shots to the head but Elza starts controlling his arms so the ref stands the fighters to restart the action. The fighters exchange a couple shots before Elza catches Billy with a solid shot to the face that rocks him, Elza hammers in a couple more shots before Billy is able to move in and clinch to slow the action. Elza lands a knee and then locks in a guillotine as he goes back against the ropes, after a few seconds working the choke Elza releases and lands a thundering shot to the head that drops Billy to the canvas. Billy falls back into the ropes and the ref moves in to let him stand but as the ref goes to restart the fighters Billy verbally submits giving Elza the TKO victory.

Steven Thompson vs Shane McMlanahan
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, both fighters swing and then clinch up before Steven lands a knee and a couple shots to the head that rock Shane. The fighters push out of the clinch and Steven swings but misses and the fighters clinch up again and continue working for control. Steven lands a couple more shots and the fighters break the clinch Steven moves back in and the fighters exchange a head shot and then clinch once more. The fighters again break out of the clinch Steven lands a few more shots to the head as they circle, Shane answers back but its Steven getting the better of the exchange. Steven lands a couple more shots before dropping down and taking a leg, Steven starts working to get the fight to the ground and after a few seconds gets Shane on his back. Shane has head control from the bottom but after a few seconds Steven gets his head free and starts pounding in shots as Shane turns giving up his back. Steven continues pounding in shots to the head until he reaches around and locks in a rear naked choke, seconds later Shane is forced to tap giving Steven the submission victory.

Mark Maynard vs Kenny Kretzer
ROUND 1: Mark comes across the ring with a flying knee and the fighters clinch, Kenny lands a shot to the head, Mark answers back with a couple and then backs out of the clinch. Mark then lands a leg kick as Kenny shoots in and Mark takes the fight to the ground where he starts hammering in shots to the head and body forcing Kenny to tap to the strikes giving Mark the TKO victory.

ROUND 1: The fighters meet center ring and clinch where Brandon locks in a guillotine and starts cranking away, Brandon then jumps up on Ricky and pulls guard taking the fight to the ground forcing Ricky to tap giving Brandon the submission victory.

Jonathan Jackson vs Riley Cook
ROUND 1: The fighters touch gloves, Riley closes in and Jonathan lands a couple shots to the head as they clinch up. The fighters slug it out in the clinch exchanging several shots to the head before Jonathan takes the fight to the ground ending up in side mount. Riley holds him in close but Jonathan is still able to step over to full mount, Jonathan then starts to pound in shots to the head, Riley turns giving up his back and Jonathan latches on and sinks in a rear naked choke. Riley tries to get free and even makes it to his feet and attempts to slam his way free by falling back on Jonathan but Jonathan cranks on the choke and forces Riley to tap.

Les Stapleton vs Greg Maynard
ROUND 1: The fighters start to circle, Greg moves in landing a couple shots to the head and the fighters clinch, Les lands a couple knees to the body and Greg answers back with ahead shot as he pushes out of the clinch. Greg lands a leg kick, Les answers back with a couple jabs and then Greg connects with another solid leg kick that drops Les to the mat. Greg rushes in and the fighters scramble back to their feet where Les lands a couple shots to the head and then swings and misses as Greg backs away. Greg moves back in to clinch and Les lands a solid knee to the head, Greg backs out of the clinch and the fighters begin to circle. Greg lands another solid leg kick, the fighters circle a bit more and Les moves in landing a couple shots to the head. Les lands a couple more stiff jabs and then moves in and the fighters exchange a couple shots toe to toe. The fighters back out and circle, Greg lands another leg kick that drops Les to the canvas once more. Greg backs away and lets Les get to his feet, Les closes in and the fighters start slugging it out toe to toe and end in a clinch. Les lands a knee and then several head shots in the clinch, Greg pushes him back and swings but Les ducks under and the fighters begin to circle. Greg lands a couple more leg kicks, Les closes in landing a couple head shots and the fighters clinch with Les pressing Greg into the corner as the bell sounds ending the first round.
ROUND 2: The fighters touch gloves and begin to circle, Les closes in landing a head shot and then clinches up where he lands a couple knees to the head. The fighters exchange a shot in the clinch, push out and exchange a couple more head shots. Greg throws a leg kick but misses and the fighters circle. Les closes in driving Greg back into a corner and then lands a couple shots to the head before Greg verbally submits giving Les the TKO victory.
