Gladiator Fighting Championship I Fleming
_ Neon Ky. Dec. 11th 2004
Ground N Pound had two fighters competing and knew of a couple of the
others fighting. This was shaping up to be a great show and I couldn't
wait for the bell. For their first event they had a decent sized crowd
and after talking to a few of the fighters I knew this was going to be
awesome. I want to start off by saying how proud we are here at GNP to
have a great group of guys representing us and win loose or draw we thank
you all for stepping up to the plate.
Lets get into the action now!!! |
Fight # 1
Steve Jefferson VS James Foster
Rnd 1: Both fighters meet center ring and begin to feel out the other.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Steve drops to his knee and
sprawls trying to defend. James drives hard and eventually takes Steve
to his back and starts working for position. Steve is controlling James's
hands to prevent any striking then James decides to switch to a leg lock.
James isn't successful with the leg and jumps back to Steve's guard where
he continues to work for position looking for the mount or side control.
The fighters keep working on the ground as just as James gets side control
they are in the ropes so the ref brings them center ring and restarts
the fight on the ground. Starting from side control James quickly works
into the full mount, Steve immediately starts bucking and working to escape
or reverse the situation. James lands a few shots to the body and then
Steve quickly reverses putting James on his side with Steve having him
in a headlock and delivering a few shots to the head. James grabs a leg
and drives from his knees for a takedown but Steve sprawls out and from
north south position Steve is raining in some solid shots to the back
of the ribs. James drives in again causing Steve to defend and stop the
body shots leaving the fighters in a stalemate on the ground. Steve decides
to bring the fight back to their feet and stands up letting James stand
as well. Steve comes in with a short jab and James shoots trying to get
the fight back to the ground causing Steve to sprawl to his knees and
before they can start working the bell sounds ending round 1
Rnd 2: Steve comes in swinging and James ducks under and shoots driving
Steve back into the corner on the ground. Steve immediately pops to his
knees and starts slamming elbows and forearms into James back. The fighters
make it to their feet with James still driving for a takedown and Steve
sprawls taking it back to the ground in a north south position. James
gets to his feet and tries to drive in once more but this time Steve flips
him ending up in side control with James on his back. Steve tries stepping
over to gain full mount and James flips up and grabs a double leg driving
Steve back to the mat and ending up in side control Working for position
James steps over into full mount and steve pulls him in close to prevent
any striking. James lands a body shot causing Steve to try harder to escape
the mount, James sees a chance and goes for an arm bar sending the fighters
into a spin with Steve landing on top in James's guard. Steve raises up
and lands some shots to the head then pushes off and stands up calling
for James to stand with him. The fighters meet center ring, Steve swings,
James shoots and the bell sounds ending round 2
Rnd 3: James is not able to answer the bell due to a back injury from
the earlier forearms and elbows to the back. It was later reported by
James that he sustained a tore muscle in his back.

to gain control Jason grabs Joel's arm and spins him around breaking the

to try and escape the choke. Jesse turns inside the RNC and is now facing
Josh but is also in a side choke. Jesse pulls free and is now working
from Josh's guard, Josh is holding Jesse in to prevent striking and is
trying to reverse the position. After a minute of working for control
Jess pops up and starts landing shots to the head, Josh immediately pulls
him back in to stop the strikes and the fighters work themselves into
the ropes. The ref turns them around and they are back at it on the ground
with Jesse on top in Josh's guard. Josh lands a head shot but that let
Jesse free to push up and rain in a few more head shots, Josh pulls Jesse
back in and the fighters are not as active as the ref would like so he

called for the bell.

Fight # 10
(Boxing Exhibition) Anthony Trotter vs Josh Smallwood
These fighters came out swinging hard, this wasn't your typical boxing
match it was an all out slugfest. The fighters used boxing gloves and
started out in head gear but after a few minutes Josh decided he didn't
like his and pulled it of and tossed it to the side. Being MMA fighters
these guys are used to the smaller gloves and taking a shot so they were
swinging for the fences and connecting with each other and the crowd was
loving it. Anthony had Josh on the ropes delivering some great shots and
at one point Josh even drops his hands and tells Anthony to bring it and
that's exactly what he does, after a couple shots Josh drives in several
shots of his own. It was clear neither fighter was backing up and both
came ready to put on a fight for the fans. After 3 rounds of non stop
action the fight went to the judges who declared the fight a draw thus
wrapping up a great night of competition
